If you’re anything like us, you’ll love discovering places that feel a bit off the beaten track — and Banja Koviljača is exactly that. Tucked away in western Serbia, it’s one of those rare spa towns that genuinely feels like a find. Whenever we want to completely switch off and let skilled hands sort out tight shoulders, tired legs, or just the general chaos of life, this is where we go.
It’s become one of our favourite wellness escapes, especially for indulgent treatments like full-body massages and clay or algae wraps. Plus Koviljača has this lovely old-world charm — a grand central park, early-20th-century architecture, and a spa complex that feels both historic and beautifully maintained.
Once you’re inside the spa, everything slows down. There are two swimming pools — one indoors and one outdoors — plus two different saunas, quiet relaxation areas, and those wonderfully soft, fluffy bathrobes that instantly put you in “do not disturb” mode.

But the real highlight? Their massages.
There’s a proper menu to choose from: full-body, shiatsu, head, feet, hands — all done by therapists who clearly know their craft. Our absolute favourite is something called the Queen’s Power: two therapists, working in perfect sync for two full hours. By the end of it you stand up with wobbly legs and that deliciously heavy, floaty feeling that only a really good massage gives you.
The clay and algae wraps are brilliant too — warm, soothing, and ideal if you want something a bit different to the usual spa routine. You’re wrapped, cocooned, and left to drift off while the minerals work their magic.
What really makes the place, though, is the staff. Everyone is friendly, professional, and unhurried, which makes such a difference. They’re the kind of team who make you feel like you’re in safe hands from the moment you step through the door.
Banja Koviljača may not be on the typical European spa radar, but that’s part of its charm. It feels like a proper retreat — one of those places you arrive at tense and tired, and leave from feeling lighter, calmer, and genuinely renewed.
If you’re curious about exploring Serbia or just want a spa experience that feels authentic, welcoming, and really, really good value for money, this little town is the perfect place to start.
